A kitchen should work before it looks finished. We plan cooking zones, landing space, fridge access, sink location, island clearance, pantry storage, and traffic flow before cabinets are ordered.
Custom and semi-custom cabinets need accurate measurements, appliance specs, filler planning, panels, crown, light valance, toe kicks, and clean integration with walls that may not be perfectly square.
Quartz counters, porcelain or tile backsplash, under-cabinet lighting, pendants, pot lights, and outlets should be coordinated so the final kitchen feels intentional instead of pieced together.
Kitchen renovations involve demolition, framing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, cabinet installation, counters, tile, flooring, trim, paint, and appliances. The order matters.
We treat kitchens as occupied-home renovations. Protection, containment, cleanup, and careful demolition help keep the rest of the home manageable.
A proper quote should separate cabinetry, labour, counters, backsplash, plumbing, electrical, flooring, lighting, appliance work, finishing, disposal, and exclusions.
Cabinet timelines drive the whole kitchen schedule. Door style, colour, custom sizes, fillers, panels, and appliance specs should be finalized early.
Quartz or stone counters are usually templated after cabinets are installed. Sink, faucet, cooktop, seams, overhangs, and edge profiles must be confirmed.
Kitchens need proper outlet spacing, GFCI protection, appliance circuits, island outlets, under-cabinet lighting, pendants, switches, and dimmers.
Sink moves, dishwasher placement, fridge water lines, pot fillers, gas ranges, range hoods, and exterior venting affect cost and sequencing.
Cosmetic work may be simple, but structural changes, electrical, plumbing, gas, condo rules, and wall removal can require review or permits.
The kitchen is not finished when cabinets are hung. Trim, caulking, paint, tile edges, panel alignment, hardware, appliance fit, and cleanup decide the final impression.
Cabinet painting or refacing, new hardware, backsplash, lighting, faucet, sink, and countertop replacement can update a kitchen without a full redesign.
New cabinets, quartz counters, backsplash, lighting, flooring, sink, faucet, and appliance coordination can dramatically improve storage and daily use.
A full redesign may include wall removal, new layout, custom cabinets, built-in appliances, island seating, pantry storage, electrical, plumbing, flooring, and premium finishes.
Opening a kitchen to living or dining spaces requires structural planning, beam work where needed, flooring transitions, lighting zones, and finish continuity.
Condo kitchens may involve board rules, elevator booking, insurance documents, work-hour limits, plumbing restrictions, disposal rules, and approved contractors.
For resale, the smartest scope is often clean, neutral, durable, and budget-aware rather than a highly personalized luxury kitchen.
Best for kitchens with a working layout and solid cabinet boxes. Scope may include new doors, drawers, hardware, lighting, faucet, sink, backsplash, and counters.
Best for replacing cabinets, improving storage, adding or rebuilding an island, updating electrical and plumbing, and creating a clean finished kitchen without major structural work.
Best for full redesigns, open concept kitchens, wall removal, large islands, built-in appliances, luxury finishes, and high-detail project coordination.

Popcorn ceilings
WOW! Just WOW! Max removed all the popcorn from our 1800 sq ft town home, repainted from top to bottom plus did some carpentry repairs on our floors…and the final result is spectacular! But just as important, he made the entire renovation painless for us: not only was the process completely dust free and mess free, but Max also moved ALL the furniture and pictures himself (no help from us at all) then put EVERYTHING back together the way it was. We literally walked out of our home before he started and then walked back in a couple of weeks later to a beautiful brand new home with everything in the exact same place as it was beforehand. Renovating doesn’t not get better than this!!!

Stairs & railings
Max and his team at Strataline have done multiple home improvement projects for us, including stair refinishing, popcorn ceiling removal, new flooring and interior painting. From the start their team was professional and punctual. The stair refinishing completely transformed the look of our home. The popcorn ceiling removal was done cleanly and efficiently with great attention to minimize dust and mess. The team delivered on time and with no surprise budget increases. I would definitely recommend Max and his team at Strataline.

Popcorn ceilings
The Popcorn removal was excellent and a very clean process. They also transformed our stairs from boring oak to a much more modern look. They handled repainting of the whole house and replacement of old tile floors with a beautiful new one. There were many additional small tasks which they handled very well. They have design skills if you need them. The house looks great. Very talented and reliable people. I should also say they are very professional providing detailed quotations and billing. Popcorn ceilings
This is the second time Max has done some work at our home. The first time was to remove popcorn from our hallway ceilings. We were so very impressed with the results and it was truly dust-free. This time Max removed wallpaper and prepared those walls for painting. He painted several other areas as well and sanded and reapplied urethane on all our new doors. And again it was dust-free! He and Galina are superb craftsmen. Their attention to the smallest of details speaks volumes of the pride they take in their work. A quality that is difficult to find these days. We highly recommend Strataline. Thank you Max and Galina. We will be calling again for the next project. Ilene and Mario, Maple

Painting
My wife and I used the services to paint our entire condo, including the ceilings, walls and baseboards. In addition, they installed new kick boards under our kitchen island, counters and in the bathrooms. The quality of the painting was excellent, but what really stood out was how clean they kept everything. Their dust control was outstanding, and they left our condo spotless at the end of the job. We truly appreciated the care they took to protect our home throughout the entire project. We highly recommend Strataline and will not hesitate to use their services again.

FAQ
We handle kitchen renovations, kitchen remodeling, cabinet installation, cabinet replacement, cabinet refacing coordination, quartz countertops, backsplash installation, island planning, pantry storage, lighting, flooring, plumbing, electrical, range hood coordination, appliance planning, painting, and cleanup.
Cost depends on kitchen size, cabinet type, countertop material, backsplash, appliances, plumbing changes, electrical upgrades, flooring, wall removal, structural work, condo logistics, and finish level. Cabinetry and countertops are usually major cost drivers.
A simple refresh can take days. A full kitchen with new cabinets, counters, backsplash, electrical, plumbing, flooring, and finishing often takes several weeks once cabinets and materials are ready. Custom cabinetry and structural changes take longer.
Like-for-like cabinet, countertop, backsplash, paint, and flooring updates often do not need a building permit. Structural wall removal, new plumbing rough-ins, electrical changes, gas work, and some condo scopes may need permits or approvals.
Often yes. Condo boards may require insurance, WSIB, drawings, product details, elevator bookings, delivery windows, disposal plans, work-hour limits, plumbing restrictions, and approval before demolition.
Yes. Keeping the same sink, appliance, and wall locations usually reduces cost and timeline. We still review clearances, storage, lighting, outlets, range hood, and counter space so the layout works better.
Change the layout when the current kitchen has poor traffic flow, bad storage, cramped appliance doors, no landing space, weak lighting, poor ventilation, or an island that would improve prep and seating.
Sometimes. Wall removal needs structural review, beam planning, electrical and HVAC rerouting, flooring transitions, ceiling repair, permits where required, and clean finishing so the kitchen feels intentional.
The best layout depends on room shape and daily use. L-shaped, U-shaped, galley, peninsula, and island kitchens can all work when cooking zones, landing space, storage, traffic, lighting, and appliance clearances are planned.
Island clearance depends on appliance doors, seating, traffic paths, and cabinet access. Tight islands look good in drawings but feel frustrating if dishwasher, oven, fridge, or stool clearances are missed.
Often yes. We review room width, traffic, structure, flooring, electrical for island outlets, lighting, seating overhang, storage, sink or cooktop plans, and countertop slab limits.
Custom cabinets fit unusual rooms, tall ceilings, panel-ready appliances, specialty storage, and precise design goals. Semi-custom can be faster and more budget-friendly when the layout is straightforward.
Measurements, appliance specs, fillers, panels, toe kicks, crown, light valance, end panels, soft-close hardware, drawer boxes, hinges, clearances, and installation quality matter as much as door style.
Refacing can work when cabinet boxes are solid, layout is good, and you want a surface update. Replacement is better for poor layout, damaged boxes, new storage, new appliances, or a full design change.
Cabinet painting is different from wall painting. It needs degreasing, sanding, bonding primer, controlled application, and durable coatings. We can review whether painting, refacing, or replacement suits the goal.
Quartz is popular because it is durable, consistent, and low maintenance. Granite, porcelain, quartzite, butcher block, and laminate each have different cost, care, heat, seam, and edge considerations.
Counters are usually templated after base cabinets are installed and level. Sink, faucet, cooktop, seams, overhangs, waterfall panels, and edge profiles should be decided before templating.
A full-height backsplash can look cleaner and reduce grout lines, especially behind ranges and sinks. Tile backsplash is more flexible and can be easier to repair. The choice depends on budget and style.
Yes. Backsplash scope should include substrate prep, layout, edge trim, outlets, range area, under-cabinet lighting, grout, silicone, and transitions to counters and cabinets.
Common kitchen electrical work includes GFCI outlets, island outlets, appliance circuits, under-cabinet lighting, pendants, pot lights, switches, dimmers, microwave circuits, dishwasher circuits, and panel review.
Often, but plumbing changes can affect cost, floor or wall openings, venting, cabinet design, dishwasher placement, and schedule. Condos may restrict plumbing relocation.
Yes. Range hoods need proper sizing, duct path, exterior termination, cabinet integration, electrical planning, makeup air review where relevant, and product selection that matches cooking habits.
Panel-ready appliances must be chosen before cabinet production. Door swing, reveal, handle, ventilation, water lines, service access, and exact manufacturer specs are critical.
Yes. Pantry cabinets, pull-outs, coffee bars, appliance garages, tray dividers, spice storage, garbage pull-outs, and charging drawers can be built into the cabinet plan.
Hardwood, engineered wood, porcelain tile, luxury vinyl, and existing floor refinishing can all work. The decision depends on moisture, transitions, subfloor, comfort, durability, and the rest of the main floor.
Yes. Small kitchens need strong storage planning, compact appliances, bright lighting, right-depth cabinets, careful backsplash and counter choices, and clean traffic flow.
Yes, but it needs planning. We discuss dust control, appliance downtime, temporary food prep, water shutoffs, access paths, deliveries, disposal, and daily cleanup.
Common delays include late cabinets, missing appliance specs, countertop templating timing, permit or condo approvals, backordered tile, electrical surprises, plumbing moves, and decisions made after demolition.
A clear quote should include demolition, protection, disposal, cabinets, counters, backsplash, electrical, plumbing, lighting, flooring, trim, paint, appliance coordination, exclusions, allowances, timeline, and warranty.
