Bilateral Handrails & Exterior Accessibility Railing in Fort Erie
At this Fort Erie home, we corrected the mounting of an existing handrail, added a rail on the opposite wall and fitted aluminum railing to the front steps. The work was part of an occupational therapist’s accessibility project.
What was there before
The existing custom handrail needed disassembly and restoration. That work exposed an unsuitable wall-anchor type, while the one-sided arrangement did not provide the requested bilateral support.
What remained
The original custom interior handrail was restored and reinstalled after its underlying attachment was corrected. The existing home and stair arrangement remained the basis of the work.
Work completed
A corresponding handrail was added on the opposite wall. Outside, aluminum railing was installed over the front steps and connected visually with the porch railing.
