Opening Up an Oakville Home With a New Railing, Smooth Ceilings and Coordinated Floors
We replaced a solid half wall with an open stair railing, removed popcorn texture from ceilings up to 20 feet high, and coordinated new hardwood, tile, trim and paint throughout the connected interior.
What was there before
A solid half wall enclosed part of the staircase. The stair, high ceilings and adjoining hardwood and tile surfaces needed one coordinated finish plan.
What remained
The existing stair layout remained. The new railing opened the view, with posts and handrails coordinated with the surrounding floor.
Work completed
The half wall was removed and a custom open railing installed. Hardwood, tile, finish carpentry and ceiling finishing were completed within the connected renovation.
Planning the work
Post locations and railing lines were checked against the existing stair and surrounding floors. The wider scope also included high-ceiling work, which required its own access setup.
The result
The completed railing opens the view between the levels and meets the surrounding hardwood and tile as part of the same interior.
