Custom Safe-Door Installation for Axiom Real-Time Metrics in Mississauga
A historic safe door became a feature of Axiom Real-Time Metrics’ Mississauga boardroom. The approximately 15-ton assembly needed custom metalwork and a stainless-steel surround fitted to its existing frame.

Project overview
A safe door in the boardroom
More than 50 years old, the safe-door assembly was an unusual starting point for an office renovation. We built the surrounding boardroom wall and custom stainless-steel details to fit it.
Working with the original assembly
Building around a 15-ton historic safe door
The original frame and hinges determined where the surrounding construction could sit. We measured the assembly and allowed space for the full depth of the door when open.
Planning and AutoCAD
Drawing the custom parts before fabrication
We drew the custom parts in AutoCAD using dimensions from the safe-door assembly. Those drawings guided the framing and the stainless-steel components through fabrication and fitting.
Heavy modification
Drilling, fitting and adapting the original metalwork
The installation involved drilling and modifying the existing metalwork, then repeatedly checking the fit of the new components. The frame and hinges had to remain clear as the adjoining construction took shape.
Custom stainless-steel fabrication
Forming the stainless-steel surround
We cut, bent, welded and polished the stainless-steel components for this installation. The long horizontal and vertical pieces were fitted around the safe-door frame and against the boardroom walls.

Closing the unfinished edges
The stainless-steel surround covers the previously exposed perimeter of the safe-door assembly. Fitted wall returns complete the opening.

Open: clearance for the full door
The open view reveals the door’s thickness and large hinges. The surround fits outside that movement, leaving the original frame visible.
Final integration
The finished surround
The polished stainless steel frames the original safe door across the boardroom wall. The open and closed views show how the new surround fits around the much older assembly.
