Sofina Foods Head Office Boardroom Construction in Markham

We built a boardroom inside Sofina Foods’ operating Markham office, scheduling disruptive work after hours. The new room has sound-insulated walls, a custom door with a narrow glass panel and power at both ends of the table. Strong light from the east-facing windows demanded careful wall preparation.

Building a boardroom inside an active head office

The boardroom was built within an open office that remained in use. New walls enclosed the meeting space, with sound-control insulation inside and a custom door with a narrow glass panel at the entrance.

Scheduling disruptive work after hours

Staff worked just beyond the new room. We scheduled framing, drilling and other disruptive work after normal office hours.

Sound-control insulation inside the new walls

Before closing the walls with drywall, we filled the cavities with sound-control insulation to help separate meetings from the surrounding office.

Floor scanning and core drilling

Bringing power up through the floor

Power needed to reach both ends of the conference table without extension cords crossing the carpet. We had the floor scanned before core drilling an opening for the electrical feed.

East-facing raking light

Daylight that shows every ridge

Morning light from the east-facing windows strikes the walls at a shallow angle. This raking light makes small ridges, sanding marks and uneven drywall joints much easier to see.

We skim coated, sanded and checked the long walls beside the windows repeatedly before painting.

Commercial carpet tile and vinyl baseboards finished the floor. The electrical feed comes up beneath the table, keeping the walking space clear.

Fitting the custom door

We fitted a heavy custom-made door with a narrow glass panel at the new entrance. The glazing keeps a view into the surrounding office when the door is closed.

The completed table has power at both ends, with the wiring concealed below. Smooth painted walls, carpet tile and the custom door finish the room within the office.
